Ingredients

25-30 mins
4 servings
  • 1 cuptur (arhar) dal
  • For tempering of Osaman:
  • 2 tbspghee
  • 2 stickscinnamon (dalchini)
  • 3-4 cloves(lavang)
  • 1/2 tspcummin seeds(jeera)
  • as neededFew curry leaves(kadi patta)
  • 1/4 tspturmeric powder (haldi)
  • 1/2 tspred chilli powder
  • 1 tbspjaggery (gur)
  • 1/2 tspdhania jeera powder
  • 1/2lemon juice
  • to tasteSalt
  • For tempering of Lachko dal:
  • 1 tbspoil
  • 1/2 tspmustard seeds (rai)
  • 1/4 tspturmeric powder
  • 1/2 tspred chilli powder
  • to tasteSalt
  • as neededFinely chopped fresh coriander leaves for garnish

Steps

25-30 mins
  1. 1

    Wash tuvar dal trice with water and pressure cook with 5 cups of water for 4 whistles.Cool for 15mins before opening the lid of cooker.

    Strain this cooked tuvar dal..the liquid mixture of dal we used to make osaman and thick dal mixture to make lachko dal.

    To prepare osaman..in a vessel add and heat ghee..add cinnamon,cloves,cummin seeds..when splutttered add curry leaves and liquid dal mixture.Add turmeric powder,red chilli powder, jaggery,dhania Jeera powder,lemon juice and salt...bring to boil on medium flame..simmer for 10mins... stirring occasionally.Serve hot garnishing with chopped coriander leaves.

    To prepare lachko dal..in a non stick pan add, heat oil,do tempering of mustard seeds and turmeric powder,add thick cook tuvar dal mixture,mix salt...cook for5mins.

    Serve hot with rice and ghee. It can also be serve as side with Puranpoli (sweets)
