Sama ki khichdi is also known as moraiya/morthan ,vari, samvat ,samak ,vrat ke chawal and in english known as barnyard millet .This is usually made on navratri fasting or ekadashi or other hindu fasting .

Sama ki khichdi is also known as moraiya/morthan ,vari, samvat ,samak ,vrat ke chawal and in english known as barnyard millet .This is usually made on navratri fasting or ekadashi or other hindu fasting .
Steps

Wash moraiya and soak for 10 minutes. Then discard the water.

Heat the oil in a pan once hot add cumin seeds and let them sizzle.

Then fry peanuts for a minute or till it gets light brown in colour.

Add chopped green chillies and fry for few seconds.

Add cubed potatoes with sendha namak.

Then add soaked moriya and mix and cook for a minute.

Add water and bring it to a boil.If you like the consistency little loose increase the quantity of water.

Once start boiling cover the pan and lower the heat to low.

Let it cook for 17 minutes. After that open the lid.

Fluff up the sama rice using spoon or fork.Squeeze fresh lemon juice.

Add chopped coriander leaves and mix in.

Serve with rajgira kadhi or singhare ki kadhi or it can be served with plain yogurt or farali raita.
