Vegetable Momos with Spicy Chilli Sauce

Cabbage & Carrot Stuffed steamed momos with chilli sauce. The covering can be made with whole wheat flour too , making it perfect for a light filling dinner.

Cabbage & Carrot Stuffed steamed momos with chilli sauce. The covering can be made with whole wheat flour too , making it perfect for a light filling dinner.

Method to make momos
in a food processor, add cabbage and carrots.
Pulse it to make pieces of the veggies and not a paste.
heat a tablespoon of oil in a pan, add the pulsed veggies.
Sautee for a couple of mins and add salt and pepper.
Dry out any excess water that is released after adding salt.
Remove from heat and cool completely. - 2
For the dough
in a big bowl, add flour and salt.
mix well and by adding little water at a time knead a stiff and soft dough.
keep it covered and set aside for 30 mins. - 3
To make momos
punch the dough and Knead it for a couple of minutes.
divide the dough in lemon sized balls.
roll the dough thin into a poori sized round.
add a tablespoon of the mixture and gather the ends to form a momo.
in a perforated pan, oils the sides and place 4-5 momos.
brush a little oil on the momos as well.
in a pot add water and bring it to boil.
place the perforated pot on top of the boiling water.
close a lid on the momos and steam for 10 minutes. - 4
For the chilli sauce
in a Mixer, grind tomatoes, garlic and soaked chillies to a smooth paste.
in a small pan, add oil and heat it up.
add the ground paste, salt and cumin powder.
sautee till the raw smell is out and you can see the oil floating on the top.
add water to thin down the sauce.
remove it into a bowl and enjoy with warm momos !! - 5
