Ingredients

  1. 1 cupsifted all purpose flour
  2. 3/4 tspbaking soda
  3. 1 tspsalt
  4. 1 1/2 cupscornmeal
  5. 2eggs, beaten
  6. 1 1/2 cupsbuttermilk
  7. 1 tbspshortening, melted

Steps

  1. 1

    Sift together flour, baking soda and salt. Stir in cornmeal. Combine eggs, buttermilk and melted shortening. Add liquid ingredients to dry ingredients, stirring only until smooth. Turn into well greased 8×8 inch pan. Bake at 425°F. 20-25 minutes.
