Ingredients

  1. For dough
  2. 6 cupsflour
  3. 2 teaspoonsinstant yeast
  4. 1 tablespoonsalt
  5. 1/2 cupolive oil
  6. 2 cupswarm water plus 2 tablespoons to adequately moisten dough
  7. For filling
  8. 9 slicesSwiss cheese
  9. 15 slicessmoked ham
  10. 6 slicesbacon fried and crumbled
  11. 1/2 poundmushrooms sautéed in bacon grease
  12. 1-2 cupssauerkraut squeezed
  13. 1-2 teaspoonscaraway seeds
  14. 1 teaspooncoarse black pepper
  15. 1-2 cupsmozzarella shreds
  16. Thousand Island Dressing

Cooking Instructions

    Mix flour, yeast, salt and oil & water until you have a smooth dough. Let rise 2 hours.

    Roll out half the dough into a 9x13ish rectangle.

    Evenly distribute Swiss cheese, ham, fried crumbled bacon, sautéed mushrooms, sauerkraut, caraway seeds, black pepper, and mozzarella shreds over dough.

    Carefully roll Into a log starting from narrow end. Allow to rise for 1 hour. Brush with olive oil. Bake at 350 for 1/2 hour or until golden.

    Dip fat slices of Stromboli in thousand island dressing.
