Ingredients

  1. 2 1/2 cupsall purpose flour
  2. 2 1/2 teaspoonbaking powder
  3. 2 tablespoonsmargarine
  4. Rind from 1 lemon
  5. 1 teaspoonlemon juice
  6. 1 cupwarm milk and water (half milk half water)
  7. 3 tablespoonssugar (adjust to your preferred sweetness)

Steps

  1. 1

    Mix the dry ingredients in a bowl to a sand like texture (flour, sugar, baking powder, lemon rind and margarine)

  2. 2

    Pour the lemon juice then add the liquid as you knead. The dough should be firm and not sticky.

  3. 3

    Divide into four balls then cover and let it rest for 30 mins.

  4. 4

    Roll the balls flat a few inches thick then cut to your desired shape.

  5. 5

    Heat oil and fry. Do not use hot oil it will burn them and they'll be undercooked in the inside.

  6. 6

    Serve with hot masala tea. Bon appetite.
