Ingredients

  • 4boneless, skinless chicken breasts, sliced thinly lengthwise
  • 4 tablespoonsplain yogurt
  • 4 tablespoonstomato sauce
  • 5 clovesgarlic, finely minced
  • 1medium onion, finely chopped in a food processor
  • 1tomato, very finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoonmixed chicken spices
  • 2 tablespoonsvinegar
  • Salt
  • Black pepper
  • 3 tablespoonsolive oil
  • 3 loaves mashrouh bread (or substitute with pita or flatbread)
  • Sauce ingredients
  • 2 tablespoonstahini
  • 4 tablespoonsplain yogurt
  • 1/2 teaspoonketchup
  • 2 tablespoonswater
  • 1 teaspoonolive oil
  • 1 clovegarlic, very finely minced
  • Salt
  • Black pepper
  • Add to taste

Steps

    Place the sliced chicken breasts in a bowl.

  2. 2

    Add all the listed marinade ingredients to the chicken and mix well.

  3. 3

    Cover and refrigerate for 5 hours to marinate.

  4. 4

    Heat the olive oil in a skillet over medium heat, then add the marinated chicken and cook until the chicken is fully cooked and the sauce thickens.

  5. 5

    Once cooked, lay out the bread, add the chicken shawarma, and drizzle with the sauce. Roll up, slice, and serve.

    For the sauce, mix all the listed sauce ingredients together and use as a topping for the shawarma.
