Ingredients

  1. 2 cupUrad Dal Sabut / Whole Black Lentils
  2. 2onions paste
  3. 3Tomatoes puree
  4. 1 tbspginger garlic paste
  5. 2Green Chilli paste
  6. 5-6 cupsWater
  7. 1/4 cupfresh cream
  8. 1/2 cupmilk
  9. 2 tbspoil
  10. 1 tbspCumin seeds
  11. 1 tbspcarrom seeds
  12. 1/2 tbspTurmeric powder
  13. 1 tbspGaram Masala powder
  14. 1/2 tbspRed chilli powder
  15. to tasteSalt
  16. 2Bay leaves
  17. 1small stick Cinnamon
  18. 2Black Cardamoms
  19. 2Cloves

Cooking Instructions

    Whole urad dal or black lentils are soaked for at least 6 hours or overnight. Pressure cook the dal with 1 bay leaf, cinnamon stick,cloves, cardamom,carom seeds, 1/2 cup milk,1/4tbsp turmeric powder, 1/4 red chilli powder, salt according to taste and water as required. Take 4-5 whistle till dal softened.

    Now heat oil in the pan. add cumin seeds. Saute for few seconds. Then add 1 bay leaf,1black cardamom, cloves Saute these whole spices for few seconds. Add ginger garlic paste, onion paste,green chilli paste and tomato puree.

    Give it a good stir Add all the spices - turmeric, red chilli powder, garam masala, and salt. Cover and cook for sometime.now add fresh cream.Once it's started release oil add boiled dal.cook for sometime..garnish with coriander and fresh cream..You can add a dollop of butter on top before serving. Serve with naan.
