Ingredients

  • 1 cupmah ki dal (Whole Urad Dal)
  • 1/2 cupChana dal
  • As requiredWater
  • 1 tbspGhee
  • 1-2whole red chilies 10
  • 10cloves of garlic, chopped
  • 1 inchpiece of ginger, grated
  • 2ripe tomatoes, chopped
  • 1green chilli, chopped
  • 1/4 tspasafoetida
  • 1 tspred chilli powder
  • 1 tspgaram masala
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • As RequiredSalt to taste
  • 1 tbspFresh cream

Steps

  1. 1

    Heat the ghee in a handi and add the whole red chilies and ginger garlic.

  2. 2

    Now add the onions and green chilies.

  3. 3

    Saute till onion becomes pink in colour and then add the tomatoes and all the spices.

  4. 4

    Keep stirring till the tomatoes are cooked and then add the pulses.

  5. 5

    Mix well and add water and salt.

  6. 6

    Cover and cook on low flame till the dal is very well done.

  7. 7

    Finally beat in the fresh cream and serve hot garnished with coriander in a smaller handi.
