6 dozen
  • 6 cupssifted plain flour
  • 1 tspsalt
  • 1 Litreroom temp water
  • 1 cupextra flour
  • 1/2 cupoil

  1. 1

    Preheat the oven at 180 °c. In a large bowl, sift in the flour and salt. Add the water little at a time till you have a soft dough.

    Divide the dough and shape tennis size balls onto a floured surface.

    Press the balls slightly with the palm of your hand.Roll it out into little circles slightly smaller than a saucer.

    Spread about 1 Tbs of oil onto each circle,sprinkle with little flour then stack another circle ontop.Add 1 Tbs oil again, followed by flour and another circle.You should have 3 circles in a stack. Repeat the process till you have 6 stacks with 3 in each.

    Roll each stack out into a bigger circle and place it 1 by 1 on a big flat lid and into the oven.Let little bubbles form then turnover and take it out.Do not leave it in too long or brown else it will be hard and dry. Should be in - 5mins.

    As soon as it's out of the oven, cut all sides of the ready made pur. You should have a rectangle.

    Cut the pur into 4 strips.Length should be 24cm, width 6cm wide. Carefully seperate the strips while hot.Hold 1 hand down at the opening while you use the other hand to open it up.Out of the 4 strips, you will make 1dozen pur.Place the pur into a damp cloth and seal till you are ready to use it.The damp cloth prevents hardening and cracking of the pur.
