Manathakkali keerai saaru/Black nightshade soup

This is a recipe that I often do at home and is enjoyed by everyone. I didn't know this until my mother in law taught me. It is a very special dish as it has amazing medicinal properties. It is a dish that is a must for people having stomach and mouth ulcers. Old people who take in a lot of tablets and thus have stomach ulcers and girls above the age of 15 should have this. The amount of saaru / soup that you are adding in the rice must be twice the amount of rice taken. It's something that all of us would love to make as it is simple, healthy and tasty.
I will say it is a MUST TRY!!
*Tips:
1. In the case of manathakkali keerai / Black night shade, take it along with the flowers and the fruits they bear as this adds on to the nutrition content of the keerai.
2. While washing rice don't use the water that you used to wash the rice for the first time. Use the water that you used to wash the rice for the second and the third time.
3. If you can't get manathakkali keerai / Black night shade you can also make this dish with moringa leaves.

Spicy Tomato Soup (Tomato Rasam) Spicy Tomato Soup (Tomato Rasam)
This is a spicy & sour curry. You can eat it with rice or drink it like a soup. If you like the taste of curry leaves, add it at the beginning before the tomatoes. You can filter the "Rasam" & drink or you can drink it as it is. Add a lot of "Rasam" to the rice, eat the rice & then drink the "Rasam".That's a style I know. Pen Friend -
Slow Cooker Black Bean Soup Slow Cooker Black Bean Soup
This soup is delicious both on hot summer days or the cold winter days. It goes well with "Cuban Yellow Rice". Reduce the amount of water to 4-4.5 cups to make simmered black beans instead of a soup."Don't open the lid of the slow cooker while it's cooking!" is what I was told... Scallop Soup with Rice Scallop Soup with Rice
A friend of me sent me some dried scallops, and I wanted to turn them into something tasty. My city is getting colder at night (for our standard, that is. I live in the biggest archipelago in the world) so I wanted to make something warm. This dish is very simple and tasty. Adjust the salt to your liking. You might want to add more, but I think a pinch is enough. Angela Mertoyono -
Irmgards Appeeling Soup Irmgards Appeeling Soup
Seen this on a programme last week, this is my verdion. you can use any peel you like but must be more potato than other veg. You can use any spice at end for flavour. It's sorta like mushroom soup, a tad potato flavour but nice. I like this as I live mushrooms but allergic. No need for thickeners in this Irmgard Gater -
Vietnamese Fish Cake & Pork Noodle Soup |Bánh Canh Giò Chả Cá Vietnamese Fish Cake & Pork Noodle Soup |Bánh Canh Giò Chả Cá
Probably my first noodle soup I’ve attempted to make when I first started my cooking venture. It’s one of those soup that you toss everything in and, voila! The vegetables sweetened the broth, while the pork hock gives it richness. Aromatics are the herbs and fried shallots. The garlic fish sauce glaze gives this noodle soup a boost of complexity and savory sweetness. Quoc Nguyen | Chef Q -

Thai rice stick soup (ขนมจีนน้ำยา) Thai rice stick soup (ขนมจีนน้ำยา)
If you don't want to eat chicken feet, don't add chicken feet.Additionally, chicken blood is traditionally added when the stripped meat is added back to the pot. This is optional and we didn't add any in this recipe.Apparently this dish is very specific and if you don't add the krachai it's not technically ขนมจีนน้ำยา. I was told that there aren't alternatives to this ingredient.I was also told that you can't live without krachai, so I recommend that you take a trip to your local Thai grocery store frozen section. If not, your life is incomplete (sorry). Helena -

Vietnamese Purple Yam Soup | Canh Khoai Mỡ Vietnamese Purple Yam Soup | Canh Khoai Mỡ
This is such a comforting soup, and it reminds me so much of our family dinner time. This slimy yam has 2 variety, a white and a purple. I personally prefer the purple because not only does the color is nice, but taste wise it’s also more fragrant. This is a super nutritious root vegetable. Pair this soup with sweet and savory dish like braised meat or pickled vegetables. Quoc Nguyen | Chef Q -
Nan's Sizzling Rice Soup Nan's Sizzling Rice Soup
One of my very favorites, this quick soup is impressive and delicious. Prepare all the add-ins ahead of time, even the day before, and put them in a large divided dish, refrigerated until 30 minutes before dinner. Each person puts the ingredients they want into their empty soup bowl, the boiling hot soup is ladled in, then the hot fried rice cakes are added for the sizzle. While you can make your own rice cakes, the process is involved and time-consuming. I find it's MUCH easier to buy them (Asian market or Amazon). You can easily change up the optional ingredients to suit your own taste. Use as few or as many of the ingredients listed here. But don't skip the dried shitake mushrooms! They add a rich umami flavor to the broth that you don't get from fresh shitakes. And make sure when you dish it up you include enough broth in each bowl to accommodate the star, the sizzling rice cakes!#GoldenApron23 Maggie Conlon -
Amla Rasam Amla Rasam
#Post16 - Amla (Gooseberry) has amazing health benefits. It has the highest content of vitamin C, fiber, iron and zinc. They are equally good for our hair / scalp, heart, controls blood sugar and is also good for the tummy. Hence it is recommended in our daily diet. So let me share a simple rasam (soup) that I made out of some amla. It can be enjoyed as a piping hot soup during winter, as an appetizer or as a side dish with plain steamed rice. Rasam with hot steamed rice and accompanied with some papad / chips is the best comfort food that anybody will vouch for. And if it is made with the super nutritious and healthy amla, then there is nothing like it. I am a total fan of rasam of any type. It is light, tangy and a little spicy, coming from the peppercorns. So do give it a try and relish it piping hot as a soup during winter. #goldenapron Bethica Das
