  1. 1 cupchana dal (Bengal gram - soaked)
  2. 1/4 cupmasoor dal
  3. 1 cupChopped spinach
  4. 2 tspoil
  5. 2 tspchopped garlic
  6. 4-5chopped green chilli
  7. 2 tspchopped ginger
  8. 1/2 cupfinely chopped onions
  9. 1chopped tomato
  10. 1 tspred chilli powder
  11. 1/2 tspturmeric powder
  12. 1 tspcumin coriander powder
  13. As per taste Salt
  14. 2 tspghee
  15. 1 tspchopped garlic
  16. 1/2 tspcumin
  17. 1/4 tspasafoetida
  18. 2whole dried red chilli

Cooking Instructions

    In a pressure cooker, take chana dal and masoor dal. Add pinch of turmeric powder and cook till two whistle.

    Boil the water and blanch the spinach. After 2 to 3 min transfer directly in to ice cold water. Drain it and keep a side.

    In a pan heat oil. Add cumin, green chilli, ginger, garlic and onions. When the onions become translucent, add tomatoes. After 2 to 3 min add turmeric powder, cumin-coriander powder, red chilli powder and salt to taste.

    Now add cooked dal and give a nice stir to it. After one boil add blanched spinach. Cook for 5 to 10 min. Lastly add garam masala and lemon juice.

    Now make a tadaka by heating ghee. Add asafoetida, cumin, garlic and whole dry red chilli. Add this tadaka on dal.

    Serve hot with paratha or rice.
