Chingri diye Masoor Dal Er Khichuri (Prawn Khichdi - Bengali Style) Chingri diye Masoor Dal Er Khichuri (Prawn Khichdi - Bengali Style)
#riceisthebest - Khichuri / Khichdi is a comfort food and a great one-pot meal option. So why not make a non-veg. version of it? I used masoor dal (red lentil) instead of moong dal (split green gram) and cooked in mustard oil. Turned out real yummy. You can relish this Khichuri with just papad or with any side dish. Traditionally Khichuri is relished with labra (mixed Veg. curry). Bethica Das -
Tadka Dal Cheela Tadka Dal Cheela
#Bandhan - Some protein rich breakfast is an ideal way to start your day. So why not with some cheelas (crepes / pancakes)? Give a twist to the usual recipe by adding a tadka (tempering) to the batter in order to give a completely different flavour. These cheelas are healthy, low in fat and good for diabetics. Besides breakfast, they can also be had for lunch / dinner. Enjoy them with chutney, yoghurt, pickles or any side dish. Bethica Das -

It's been raining a lot lately. When it pours on the outside with dark clouds surrounding the environment, we Bengalis crave for Kichudi. A piping hot plate of khichudi is just what the heart desires when a Bengali come home soaked in the rains. For we Bengalis, rain is almost synonymous with eating khichudi accompanied with begun bhaja (fried aubergine), aloo bhaja (potato fry), papad and piyaji (onion fritters). It is the ultimate comfort food! Ankita Chakraborty -

#greenveg - Here is a simple, yet delicious methi leaves stir fry with split moong dal. I cooked it with a tempering of panch phoron in mustard oil. I also added some vadi / dried lentil dumplings to add a crunch to the dish. I finished it off with kasundi for a mustardy taste and flavour. It is prepared dry to enjoy either with plain steamed rice or with chapatis. Bethica Das -

Palong Shaag Begun Torkari (Spinach Eggplant Curry) Palong Shaag Begun Torkari (Spinach Eggplant Curry)
#greenveg - This is a Bengali style spinach curry combined with eggplants. But you can go ahead and use potatoes, red pumpkin or radish instead. It is generally had with plain steamed rice, but it can also be had with chapati. Vadi / dried lentil dumplings can be added, depending on the availability to give this dish a nice crunchy effect. The tempering of dry red chilies and panch phoron gives an authentic touch to this delicacy. Bethica Das -
