Ingredients

  1. 3 cupsall purpose flour
  2. 1and 1/2 teaspoons leveled baking powder
  3. 3 tablespoonssugar
  4. 3 tablespoonsmargarine or butter or coconut oil
  5. I cup cold milk

Cooking Instructions

    1. Sift sugar, flour and baking powder.

  2. 2

    Run in the margarine or oil or butter till your mixture resembles bread crumbs.

    Make a well in the centre of your flour mixture and add in the milk till you make a soft dough. Knead until elastic.

    Cover your dough and keep in warm place, this dough keeps well even for next day.

    Next, roll dough to a quarter inch thickness and use a cookie cutter for whatever shape you desire. Reserve scraps and knead again. You can use a knife to cut the last bits of the dough.

    Heat oil and now fry your dough pieces. Enjoy.

I tried this recipe for the first time and I really enjoyed it. The only thing I will change next time, is to add one more tablespoon of sugar. I don’t think the mandazi’s had the right amount of sweetness. Other than that, the result was soft, flaky and delicious mandazi’s. Thanks for this awesome treat!
