Apple cages

The crunchness and the No of layers that you get out of your puff matters alot. This was super fine. Only those who were around can tell the story.

Cooking Instructions
- 1
Pre heat your oven at 190 degrees.
- 2
Grease your baking tray.
- 3
Make a paste of sugar, cinnamon n melted butter or margarine.
- 4
Peel 1 pc of apple and cut it into 2 pcs. coat those 2 pcs with your already prepared cinnamon paste n set aside.
- 5
Cut your puff pastry into square or rectangle shape. Can do round as well. Just not too big not too small. Make sure they are in pairs.
- 6
Place one cut on your working service, make some nice cuts. widen the cuts using your hands.
- 7
Place your coated 1 pc of apple on top of your puff. You may opt to egg wash the edges so that the other partner may stick.
- 8
Place the other partner of the cut on top of the apple n cover it. Also widen the cuts using your hands.
- 9
Once on top, make sure the edges are equal. Using a fork, make some nice designs on the edges as you also stick them together.
- 10
Repeat this procedure with all your pairs that you had prepared.
- 11
Egg wash all of them then arrange them in your baking tray.
- 12
Bake for 20 mins or till they turn Golden brown.
- 13
Once brown, remove them from the oven, give them some time to cool in the baking tray then transfer to your service plate ready to be served. Dice or slice the apple that you left behind for garnishing or for plate presentation.

I just thought I would make this recipe so when a lot of people come to a party, there's enough pie to go around. When using the frozen puff pastry for steps 5 - 7, only take 1 sheet of pastry out of the fridge at a time. If they become soft they will be too hard to cut. For step 8, keep the rest of the frozen puff pastry in the freezer and take it out while the previous batch is still baking. Repeat this until all of the pastry has been used.If you split your apple chunks into 4 parts, you will have the perfect amount for each batch of pies. Recipe by Dockinoko cookpad.japan -
Sfogliatelle Sfogliatelle
Pronounced, SVOY-lee-ah-tell-eh. It's Italian for "many layers". This was my first attempt at making this classic Italian dessert. Time consuming it is!! And somewhat tricky. The shape was right, but there are no ridges on mine. :( Maybe I'll get it right next time. CoolJewel -

Vegan Apple Tarte Tartin Vegan Apple Tarte Tartin
Do you ever get mindblown when you found something out of the norm during your grocery shopping? That's what happened to me. I was actually browsing some frozen puff pastries in the frozen section in a supermarket and found out there is actually a vegan puff pastry. It was like "pppssshhhh" to my head. The most amazing thing is as I scanned thru' the ingredients list, there are no bi-product or chemical, all natural ingredients! Sadly, I didn't snap any photos of the brand cos I was skeptical.Skeptical about how pastry without butter will react during final baking process. As soon as I saw how it puff up with all those beautiful layers, I am convinced. As you should know, I dislike pie/tart crust. Needless to say, I am not a fan of apple pie or tart; it is usually too over the top sweet with extra sweeteners or cream or whatnot and you can't really taste the apples. This is how an apple pastry should be. Simple, elegant and not too sweet without any added extra ingredients. Just allow the caramel, apples and the puff pastry work their magic. I am using a mixture of apples: gala, honeycrisp and granny smith. I am using a 9 inch oven proof skillet. Adjust the ingredients accordingly if you are using a smaller or a bigger skillet. It has to be oven proof. Anyway, I hope you will give this recipe a try. Daniel Lim -

Easy Apple Pie with Frozen Puff Pastry Easy Apple Pie with Frozen Puff Pastry
You may have seen a recipe like this a long time ago, but this is the apple pie my mother used to make when I was a child. Now it's what I like to make for my own family.Basically, it's foolproof, since you use frozen puff pastry. If I were to suggest anything, it would be to make sure the apple filling isn't watery, and not to put too much in or it will leak out. If it leaks out, it will burn and the pastry won't puff.
