Was bored of the usual mince curry served with rice, thought of trying out mince pilau - looked at different options on th enet and based on ingredients at had came up with this! The aroma when cooking is just brilliant!!

Ingredients

3-4 servings
  1. 1.5 CupsBasmati rice
  2. 1/4 KgMince meat (Beef, Mutton, Chicken)
  3. 2Onions chopped
  4. 1/2 CupPeas (half boiled with a pinch of baking soda)
  5. 1/2 TspTumeric powder
  6. 1/2 TspCumin/Coriander Powder
  7. 1/2 TspFreshly ground roasted cumin powder
  8. 2 tbspbutter
  9. 4 TbspOil
  10. 1/2 TspGinger
  11. 1/2 TspGarlic
  12. 1 TbspWhole Cumin seeds
  13. 1Cinnamon, 2 Cloves, 2 Cardamon
  14. 1/2 TspWhole black pepper
  15. 1Small bunch of chopped Coriander leaves
  16. 2Carrot diced
  17. 2 TbspChopped capsicum
  18. 1Green chilli (optional)
  19. 4 CupsWarm Water

Cooking Instructions

    Heat up oil and butter in a cooking pot.

    Add the whole spices, cinnamon, whole pepper, cumin seeds, cloves and cardamon.

    Add your chopped onions and fry till translucent.

  4. 4

    Add in your mince, ginger, garlic, a pinch of coriander and tumeric powders, cook till it browns (beef/mutton) - changes color.

    Once all moisture is gone from the meat, add in chopped tomato, chilli, capsicum then tumeric/coriander powder. Fry for a few mins.

    Then add in your peas and carrots and followed by a bit of chopped coriander. Stir together for a few mins.

    Add water & salt and let it simmer.

    Once it starts to boil, drain your rice and add it in. Spinkle some coriander and stir a little. Cook on a high, then reduce to medium low.

    Once water has dried. Or has reduced you can opt to cover with charcoal/oven for about 5-10 mins then your pilau is ready to serve!
