  1. 1/4 cuptoor dal
  2. 1/4 cupmoong dal
  3. 1Chilli
  4. 2tomato
  5. 1/4 tspturmeric powder
  6. Salt as required
  7. 1 pinchhing
  8. 1big onion
  9. 1 tbsptamarind puree
  10. 1small piece jaggery
  11. 1/4 tspmustard
  12. 1/4 tspjeera
  13. 1 bunchcurry leaves
  14. 1 tbspsambar powder
  15. 1 tbspCoconut oil

Cooking Instructions

    Chop tomatoes, green chillies and onions.

    Wash the toor dal, moong dal and add it to the cooker.

  3. 3

    Now add chopped green chillies and tomatoes.

  4. 4

    Then Add turmeric powder, hing, salt and water as needed and cook for two whistles.

    Once it is cooked, heat the oil in a pan. Add mustard, cumin and curry leaves.

    Then add chopped onions and saute well.

  7. 7

    Once the onion is sauted well, add the tamarind puree and jaggery and stir well. Then add the sambar powder and bring to a boil.

    Pour the boiled lentils into the pan and cook for 5 minutes in a medium heat.

    Place the idli in a serving vessel, pour the sambar on it and serve hot.
