This Halwa is a popular one with us Indians. And there is not a single person who doesn't like it. I have served it in style to my family and friends. I have served it with generous dollops of freshly Whipped Cream on top with lots of Almonds. That's it. As simple as that. I have given it a lovely twist by doing so. Fresh Cream can also be used. There will be a little difference in texture as well as taste but it's not a big deal. And if it's homemade Malai, then i think there's nothing better than that. It's always a hit. Treat your families to this elegant looking Halwa as an excellent aftermeal Dessert. It's most awesome in Winter Season. Just like it's counterpart - The Gajar ka Halwa.

Ingredients

30-35 minutes
5 servings
  1. 1 kgBeetroots, shredded
  2. 1/2 cupSugar
  3. 1 1/2 litresMilk
  4. 1/2 tspCardamom powder
  5. 3-4 tbspAlmonds, slivered
  6. 1/4 cupGhee
  7. 2 cupsWhipped Cream

Cooking Instructions

30-35 minutes
  1. 1

Peel and grate the Beetroots either manually or using a Food Processor.

  2. 2

Add them to a Kadai. Also add Milk and allow it to cook on a low heat well covered. After about 20 minutes, it's almost done. But there is still a bit of raw flavour remaining but it's almost nearly semi dry.

  3. 3

Now add Cardamom powder, Sugar, Ghee and Mixed Nuts of your choice. I usually add Almonds or Pistachios. On a medium high heat, saute it well by continuosly stirring and seeing to it that it doesn't stick to the bottom of the Kadai.

  4. 4

After about 10-15 or little less amount of time, it's nicely done. Well sauteed and absolutely aromatic. Serve this chilled with Whipped Cream on top. Enjoy!
