Khichdi made from the mixture of lentils and rice gives a very yummy taste as well as its healthy too. Khichdi is made in many different ways. Lentils, rice, sabudana, multigrain and from such various ingredients khichdi can be prepared.
A kid when starts learn to eat this type of khichdi which is tasty as well as healthy is been given along with the elderly and aged people.
Today I have made khichdi from rice and moong daal with spinach and garlic so that this khichdi of rice, lentil and spinach is full of healthy ingredients. So lets now prepare this tasty and healthy khichdi.

Cooking Instructions

First take rice and lentil in equal quantity and wash it with clean water and add salt, turmeric powder, asafoetida and red chilly powder and in a cooker cook it to prepare a simple khichdi.

In a pan heat ghee and add onion, garlic and ginger chilly paste and fry it.

Now in that add spinach puree, lemon juice and salt to taste and mix everything well.

Add this spinach mixture to the regular ready khichdi and mix everything well.

In a pan heat ghee and add garlic slice, cumin powder and dry red chilly and fry it and add this to the spinach khichdi.

So here the spinach garlic khichdi is ready to serve.

Childhood memories: Sunday was family day. Our traditional Sunday lunch would always include a fresh deep fried fish and Hasmo. This would be served on a thaal which is a big silver plate. “Hasmo” for us means mixing everything together. We’d mix the dhaal, rice , roti , fried chillies , kachumber (onion salad) together in the middle of the thaal and then make a tiny space to put the hot charcoal and then pour hot ghee over the mixture. We would then cover all with another big plate to smoke it. Once smoked we would all enjoy and eat together. It is a family food that I really miss!I would call this dish that I made today as ‘Hasmo’ but other people call it ‘Dal Khichdi’ or ‘Khichdi’This is how I made mine. M.A.DFoodie
