We all ensure to add different types of dals with various kinds of preparation to our lunch/dinner/snacks. It's very well said to Dal is poor man's protein. Moong dal is always my first preference. The way I prepared Moong dal is very tasty and goes well with steamed rice/roti.

Ingredients

  1. 1 cupraw moong dal
  2. 2tomatoes chopped
  3. 1small onion chopped
  4. 5garlic cloves, pressed
  5. 1fresh chilli
  6. 1 Tbspgrated ginger
  7. 1dry red chili
  8. 1 tsplemon juice
  9. 1/3 tspturmeric powder
  10. as per taste Salt
  11. 1/2 tsppanch phutan
  12. 1 pinchhing
  13. 1 Tbspfresh grated coconut
  14. 2curry leaves

Cooking Instructions

    Dry roast the moong dal till ligh brown. In a pressure cookers take the roasted moong dal after washing. Add turmeric, salt and chopped tomatoes. Cook for 1 whistle and release the pressure immediately.

    Heat a pan. Add oil and wait till hot. Add ponch phutan and allow to splutter.

    Now add dry chilli, chopped onion, garlic cloves, chopped fresh chilli and saute till aromatic and golden brown.

    Then add grated ginger and saute for half a minute. Mix the boiled moong dal with tomatoes. Adjust the seasoning and water for gravy.

    Garnish with fresh grated coconut, fresh chilli, curry leaves and lemon juice and serve with rice/roti or as soup.
