Ingredients

  1. Cooked cornbread (3/4 of a 9x9 pan)
  2. 6cooked buttermilk biscuits
  3. 2 tspdried sage
  4. 1 tbspolive oil
  5. 1 lbSpicy Italian sausage (casings removed)
  6. 1onion diced
  7. 1bell pepper diced
  8. 6 clovesgarlic minced
  9. 4 stalkscelery diced
  10. 1 tbspfresh rosemary
  11. 1 tbspfresh thyme
  12. 1.5 tspItalian seasoning
  13. Salt to taste
  14. Pepper to taste
  15. 1 stickunsalted butter
  16. 2 cupschicken stock
  17. 3/4 cupheavy cream

Cooking Instructions

    Preheat oven to 350F

    Crumble cornbread and Biscuits into a large bowl. Set aside.

    Brown the sausage in a pan with olive oil (3-5 minutes)

  4. 4

    Add the onion, garlic, bell pepper, celery until soft (5 to 7 minutes)

    Add the herbs and spices. Remove the pan from the heat and set aside.

    In a separate medium sauce over medium-high heat combine the butter and the chicken stock. Melt the butter completely and bring to a boil. Add heavy cream and stir to combine.

    Add the sausage mix to the bread mix, and mix well to combine. Pour the chicken stock a bit at a time over the mixture. Mix well.

    Add the combined mixture to a buttered 9x13. Cover with foil and bake for 40 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for 10 to 15 minutes, until top is lightly browned. Do not overbake.
