Fada lapsi is a traditional Gujarati sweet which is also popular in Rajasthan and Mahahrastra. This delicious sweet is prepared an auspicious occasions as well as served as a dessert . In Gujarati community it is served along with meals as a sweet.
Fada lapsi is prepared from fada meaning dalia( broken wheat), sugar and ghee. Prepared with minimum ingredients this sweet is luscious and delicious.
It can prpared in pan and also in a pressure cooker. I always prepare it in a pressure cooker as it's time saving and of course saves fuel(gas) too. Because of pressure cooking , nutrients also stay intact.

Ingredients

  1. 1 cupbroken wheat
  2. 1 cupghee
  3. 3/4 cupsugar
  4. 1/2 tspcardamom powder
  5. 1 tbspalmond flakes

Cooking Instructions

    Heat ghee in a pan. Saute the brokenwheat till they changes colour and turns aromatic.

    Add 3 cups of water. (I.e. 1:3 ratio) and mix. Put this in a pressure cooker and cook it for 3-4 whistles.Once the steam is relaesed, open the lid and take out the cooked lapsi.

    Add sugar and cook it on slow flame till the sugar melts and ghee comes on the top and lapsi starts leaving sides.

    Finally, add cardamom powder and almond flakes and turn off the heat.

    Serve hot along with meals or serve as a dessert after meals.

    Note:
    1. Can add tour choice of dry fruits.
    2. Traditional sweets taste best wirh generous quantity of ghee but you can adjust it as per your choice.
    3. Cooking time depends on brokenwheat quality.
