Ingredients

45 minutes
40 to 50 Modaks
  1. 1 cupChana dal (bengal gram)
  2. 1 cupyellow Moong dal (yellow lentil)
  3. 1 cupgreen moong dal (green gram)
  4. 1 cupred Masoor dal (red lentil)
  5. 1 cupudad dal (black gram)
  6. 1 1/2 cupGhee
  7. 1 cupgum raisins (gond)- Optional
  8. 2 1/2 cupspowdered sugar
  9. 1 tspCardamom powder
  10. 1 tspNutmeg powder
  11. For garnishingAlmonds and pistachios chopped

Cooking Instructions

45 minutes
  1. 1

    Dry roast all the dals till well browned.

  2. 2

    Grind them to a fine powder.

  3. 3

    Add ghee in pan and fry gum raisins till get puffy.keep aside.

  4. 4

    In the same pan,Heat ghee, and now add in all the ground dals.

  5. 5

    Sauté on low heat till the mixture is well browned. This may take some time.

  6. 6

    Add fried gond in Modak mixture..

  7. 7

    Cool down to room temperature and add powdered sugar.You can reduce or increase the amount of sugar depending on the sweetness of your liking.

    Add cardamom powder, Nutmeg powder,almonds and pistachios to it.

    Mix thoroughly and make Modak shape in Modak mould.You can make
    round ladoo shape also.

  10. 10

    Garnish with almonds and pistachios.

  11. 11

    Panchmel Dal Modaks are ready for Lord Ganesha.
