Cabbage fritters, otherwise popular as cabbage vada, are a very good and perfect snack especially for a cold and chilli evening. It is one of the most sought-after delicious and mouthwatering recipes prepared from shredded cabbage leaves mixed with gram flour (besan) and other spices.

Cooking Instructions

In a mixing bowl take all the ingredients like besan, shredded cabbage, chopped onion, chopped green chilli, grated garlic cloves and ginger, chopped curry leaves and coriander leaves, baking soda, turmeric powder, chilli powder and salt to taste. Add some water and mix them well to make a course or a thick paste. Leave it to rest for 10-15 minutes.

Now make 10-12 lemon-sized balls out of this thick paste. Flatten them with the help of your palms to give them a round shape.

Heat oil in a deep pan and deep fry them with a medium-high flame until golden brown and crisp. Remove them from the pan and place on a paper towel to drain the extra oil. Thus ready are the crispy cabbage fritters.

Now serve hot with coconut chutney or tomato sauce.
