Cabbage Coconut Stir Fry

This is a South Indian dish. It is called "Thoran". You can replace cabbage with other vegetables like beans, carrot, beetroot etc or add them along with the cabbage. Change the amount of coconut used according to your wish. Add more or less. You can use any oil, but coconut oil adds more flavour. Slit the chillies,if you don't want spicy stir fry.

Ingredients

  1. 2 cupCabbage
  2. 1/2 cupGrated Coconut
  3. 1 cloveGarlic
  4. 1medium Onion
  5. 1/4 tspTurmeric Powder
  6. 2Green Chillies
  7. 1 stickCurry Leaves
  8. 1/4 tspMustard Seeds
  9. 1 tbspCoconut Oil
  10. Salt

Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Heat a pan & add the coconut oil. Put the mustard seeds into it. After one minute, chop the garlic & add it.

  2. 2

    When the garlic starts to turn brown, chop the onion & add it. After a few minutes, add the chillies & curry leaves.

  3. 3

    When the onion turns mushy, add the chopped cabbage into it. Mix the coconut & turmeric powder.

    When the cabbage is half cooked, add the coconut. Add salt to taste. Mix & cook well.
