4 people
  1. 25bread slices
  2. 3 cupswater
  3. Pinchcardamom powder
  4. 8 spoonssugar
  5. 1/2 cupoil

Cooking Instructions

30 minutes
  1. 1

Take all the bread pieces and roast them on a dosa pan on medium heat till they turn crispy. (You can directly use rusk if you want to cut short the time).

  2. 2

Blend the rusk into the blender and make them into a powder(breadcrumbs).

  3. 3

Take a measuring cup and take about 1.5 cups of breadcrumbs, and keep it aside.

  4. 4

Take a nonstick pan, pour some oil, and add the measured breadcrumbs and sauté them till they turn golden brown.

  5. 5

Add 3 cups of water(ratio is 1(breadcrumbs):2(water). Keep stirring it as you see the mixture starts to boil, slowly add the 8 spoons of sugar.

  6. 6

As the sugar dissolves, add oil little by little and keep stirring till the water evaporates, and the mixture turns into a halwa consistency.

  7. 7

Bread, halwa is ready. If you want, you can garnish it with roasted cashew.

Does the cardamom powder make it look dark or what kind of bread did you use?
