Refried Beans: Mark 3 Refried Beans: Mark 3
This is a recipe originally taken from Leslie Koehn’s Brazilian Beans, but I altered it through trial and error to fit my needs. This resulted in a mix of healthy and delicious ingredients that will put any restaurant’s refried beans to shame.Note: After you learn to make it, neither restaurant nor store bought refried beans will ever taste the same again as your taste buds will only demand the rich flavors that only this very own dish can provide! Baby Lima Beans with Ham and Greens Baby Lima Beans with Ham and Greens
Lima beans (butter beans) are a delicious and healthy way to get protein and fiber in one dish. Adding greens makes it even better! Instead of soaking the beans overnight I prefer the 1-hour "quick soak" method. The prep work can be done easily at the same time. Granny in the Kitchen -

Braised Pork with Green Beans—is a true comfort food from Northeast China. My grandpa used to make a big wok full of it—tender potatoes, soft green beans, and that rich, homemade broth. It fed the whole family. Enjoy! Dandanyummyfood -
Calico Beans Calico Beans
It's been years since I've had calico beans and my husband had never tried them. I couldn't find a recipe that I liked for them, and most used ingredients I didn't have at home. We're about 50 miles from the nearest grocery store, so running out for ingredients was not an option. I used several other recipes for inspiration, but this recipe is my creation. Chimichurri Black Beans Chimichurri Black Beans
I originally wanted to make Cuban black beans. But then I had a bunch of leftover chimichurri sauce.... soooo this happened! The minute I tasted it, I KNEW, I would never make beans any other way again. Had to share it with you guys! The vinegar in the chimichurri gives a perfect hint of acidity to balance the hearty beans. Boston Baked Beans Boston Baked Beans
I got these bean crocks and planned on making some beans in them. I had a few guests over but a couple of them don’t eat pork. Very reluctantly, I decided to omit the salt pork from the beans. The good news is, there is plenty of beans and I can fry some up on the side and add it. The beans still had an authentic flavor and the guests enjoyed it. I hope you do too. (You of course do not necessarily need a crock. Any oven safe vessel with a lid will work). Karl
