Cooking Instructions

Brown beef and cut up bacon, remove from grease with slotted spoon. Sautè onion in left-over grease, remove with slotted spoon and stir into meat mixture.

Combine all the beans and meat mixture in a large baking pan. I find that a roasting pan works well.

Mix together the mustard, ketchup, molasses, and brown sugar together. Then mix thoroughly into the beans and meat.

Bake in a 350° oven for about 45-60 minutrs. Delicious!

It's been years since I've had calico beans and my husband had never tried them. I couldn't find a recipe that I liked for them, and most used ingredients I didn't have at home. We're about 50 miles from the nearest grocery store, so running out for ingredients was not an option. I used several other recipes for inspiration, but this recipe is my creation. Enjoy
