Ingredients

  1. 3 sliceBacon
  2. 4 1/2 tbspChopped onion
  3. 3/4 cupCelery, chopped
  4. 4 1/2 tbspGreen or red pepper, chopped (optional)
  5. 3 cupWater
  6. 1 1/2 cupRaw peeled potatoes, chopped
  7. 3/4 tspSalt
  8. 1 tspPaprika
  9. 4 1/2 tbspFlour
  10. 1/4 cupMilk
  11. 2 1/2 cupMilk
  12. 2 canWhole kernel corn (17 ounces)
  13. 1 canCream-style corn (17 ounces)
  14. 1large Bay leaf (remove before serving)

Cooking Instructions

    In a large pot, slowly fry bacon.

    Add onion, celery, and pepper; sauté until golden brown.

  3. 3

    Drain off excess grease.

  4. 4

    Add water, potatoes, salt, paprika, and bay leaf; simmer until potatoes are done (20 minutes).

    Combine flour with 1/4 cup milk in measuring cup to make paste (add more flour or milk if necessary).

    Add blended paste to potato sauce pot mixture.

  7. 7

    Add rest of milk and corn.

  8. 8

    Stir constantly and simmer for 5 minutes. DO NOT BOIL!!
