Sweet and Sour Pork Taiwan Style Chicken in Pineapple Vinegar Sauce Sweet and Sour Pork Taiwan Style Chicken in Pineapple Vinegar Sauce
I had a craving for Taiwanese food, so I recreated a flavor I had at a Taiwanese restaurant. This is a standard dish in our home.Cook the chicken slowly over medium heat since it takes time to cook through. In Step 7, thicken the sauce to desired consistency. Be careful not to create lumps. Eggplant, Bell peppers and Chicken with Sweet and Sour Sauce Eggplant, Bell peppers and Chicken with Sweet and Sour Sauce
Green bell peppers and eggplant were in season this summer and autumn in my garden!I added some chicken breast that was on sale for around 100 yen ($1) to make dinner! It looks like sweet and sour pork so I cooked it using a similar sauce. It'll taste better when cooled if you use just a small bit of sauce. It's delicious in bento, too!-It's nice even without doubanjiang spicy bean paste!-Substitute chili oil or ichimi togarashi (japanese red chilli pepper) for the doubanjiang spicy bean paste.-Adding extra bamboo shoot, carrot, onion and shiitake mushrooms would be perfect. Like sweet and sour pork!-Do not stir fry the bell peppers too long or they'll lose their crunchiness.-Reduce the sauce at the end so that ketchup and vinegar are less acidic. Chicken & Pork Meatballs! Sweet and Sour Sauce Chicken & Pork Meatballs! Sweet and Sour Sauce
I saw some ground chicken breast on sale! Chicken has a pretty light flavor to it, so when I decided to change half of the meat to pork, I ended up with especially tasty meatballs! This meaty and hearty dish lets you enjoy the taste of chicken without the greasiness of an all-pork recipe. If you like your meatballs chock-full of meat, reduce the amount of onions. If your onion seems to be on the watery side, make sure to squeeze the moisture out after chopping. After pouring the sauce onto the meatballs, simmer well to get rid of the acidity from the ketchup and vinegar. These are also good without doubanjiang! Ayam Bakar Kecap (Sweet Soy Sauce Grilled Chicken) Ayam Bakar Kecap (Sweet Soy Sauce Grilled Chicken)
‘Ayam Bakar’ is an Indonesian or Malaysian dish of charcoal-grilled chicken. The chicken is usually marinated with the mixture of different kinds spices such as garlic, shallot, chili pepper, tamarind juice, galangal, turmeric, ginger, bay leaf, candle nuts, and sweet soy sauce. ‘Ayam Bakar’ is usually served with ‘sambal trasi’ (Indonesian chili sauce - I’ll share the recipe in my next post 😊) and slices of cucumbers, tomatoes, and lettuce.Every region in Indonesia has their own special kind of ‘Ayam Bakar’. The one I’m posting now is a Javanese Ayam Bakar. It uses a lot of sweet soy sauce. I’ll try to share some other ‘Ayam Bakar’ recipes from the other islands next time 😊Note: In this recipe I didn’t grill the chicken using a charcoal grill. Instead I used a grill pan. You can choose which one you prefer. It will still taste yummy 😋 IG @jenscookingdiary @jenscookdineandtravel jenscookingdiary -

Easy Meatballs in Sweet and Sour Sauce Easy Meatballs in Sweet and Sour Sauce
I used to include onions in these, but when I started to focus on their softness, I ended up with this recipe. The water that you mix into the meat is pretty key in producing soft, fluffy meatballs!Using katakuriko starch powder gives the sauce a thick texture! These meatballs turn out great not only with ground pork but even with other ground meats or minced chicken. Just halve the amount of egg if you're planning on using minced chicken, because chicken naturally has more moisture to begin with. Recipe by Fumecchi cookpad.japan
