Tuna Poke Recipe | Hawaiian Ahi Poke Tuna Poke Recipe | Hawaiian Ahi Poke
Hawaiian poke tastes somewhere between sashimi and ceviche. It’s traditionally made of sliced or cubed fresh raw fish, most commonly skipjack tuna, then mixed with various fresh ingredients like sliced green onion, Maui onions, limu and seasoned with shouyu (soy sauce in Japanese) and sesame oil.Video instruction: youtu.be/SoEI22Sl0jw Julie - Mrs. Lin's Kitchen -
The Best Side Dish! Hawaiian Ahi Poke The Best Side Dish! Hawaiian Ahi Poke
At the end of last year I bought some tuna chunks for cheap from a discount store.Luckily for me it contained some chunks of good medium-fat chutoro tuna lol.So I used this tuna to make my kid's favorite ahi poke.Ogo is a type of seaweed that you often see used as a garnish on sashimi. This ahi poke will still be delicious without it.By the way I recommend trying this in a rice bowl as well. Super Easy Spicy Cilantro Ahi Poke for 2 Super Easy Spicy Cilantro Ahi Poke for 2
Last Saturday, Yellowfin Tuna aka ahi (AH-hee), was on sale at our neighborhood Sprouts, so I got a little over a pound of it with no specific dishes in mind. And since I don't like to re-freeze most types of fish upon bringing them home from the market - almost all fish you get at the market is previously frozen and suffers even more than other proteins in flavor, texture and moisture each time it's frozen and thawed - I made a point to put the package way in the back of the fridge where the temperature remains more stable through openings and closings, with a plan to prepare it early in the week. You can use some other type of sushi fish for this recipe. Ahi's just what I had on hand last night.Recipe is for 2, but you can easily double it.To read more about what makes fish sushi/sashimi grade:http://www.nytimes.com/2004/04/08/nyregion/sushi-fresh-from-the-deep-the-deep-freeze.html x -

They just built a new poke section at the supermarket where I often go. I found "yakitofu poke" at this store and it looked delicious, so I bought a small amount to try. It was simple but tasty, so I tried making it on my own.It tastes better when you let the atsuage tofu and vegetables absorb the flavour of the seasoning. Please adjust the amount of ichimi chili pepper powder to your liking. Hawaiian Octopus Poke Hawaiian Octopus Poke
I wanted to make ahi poke to reminisce on my trip to Hawaii. But I couldn't get good tuna, so I decided to make octopus poke instead. When adding the avocado to the bowl with the octopus, add the lemon juice as well. The lemon juice prevents the avocado from discoloring and adds flavor. Recipe by Mugitarou cookpad.japan -
