Soft Homemade Milk Bread Loaf

Cooking Instructions

Mix 1cup warm milk, 2 tsp active yeast and 1 tbsp sugar together. Let it bloom until foamy.

Sieve the flour, add egg, 1/4 cup sugar, salt, melted butter, yeast mixture and mix. Sprinkle some flour for kneading, drizzle some oil to prevent from sticking. Knead until the dough is smooth and elastic. Form the dough into a ball and place in an oiled bowl. Cover and allow it to rise until it doubles its size.

Punch out the gas. Sprinkle some flour and knead again, then divide the dough into 3 pieces.

Mix the cocoa powder with few drops of water and add to one of the dough. Mix thoroughly until evenly incorporated. Set aside.Then, divide each dough into two if you're making 2 loaves. If not, roll out each dough into a string. Pinch one end of the 3 strings together. Then braid them using your preferred pattern.

Transfer into a pan or tray and cover for another 30mins. Then brush with egg wash (1 egg and 1 tbsp milk). Bake in a preheated oven.

When it's done, remove from the oven and allow it to cool a little. Slice it to your desire and serve.
