How to Boil Pasta In A Pressure Cooker

This is how my favorite pasta store boils their pasta.

The pressure cooker you have is most likely different from mine, so be careful to adjust the cooking times accordingly. You may fail or mess up the first time, but this recipe is totally worth it! We make rice in our house with a pressure cooker as well! We don't have a rice cooker...(it takes about 5 minutes to make at low pressure.) This will still make the pasta have a springy, chewy texture. Recipe by Noraa

Ingredients

1 serving
  1. 100 gramsPasta (That normally cooks in 8-9 minutes)
  2. 1Salt

Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

Bring water to boil in a pressure cooker and then add 1% of the water in weight of salt.

  2. 2

Add the pasta! Once the pasta has been submerged in the boiling water, close the lid and set it to a high pressure setting (over high heat).

  3. 3

When the pin rises or the pot starts to let out steam, turn the heat down to low and cook under pressure for 2 minutes. When your timer goes off, run cold water over the lid to bring the pressure down rapidly. Open the lid and drain the pasta.

  4. 4

For capellini (angel hair pasta, normally takes about 4 minutes to cook) just cook it for under pressure for 20 seconds!

  5. 5

For fettuccine (normally takes about 6 minutes) just cook under pressure for 1 minute 30 seconds.
