Ingredients

  1. 1 kgIdli batter (3 cups rice, 1 cup udad dal & 1/2 cup poha)
  2. For Sambhar :-
  3. 3 cuptover & yellow moong dal mix (1: 2)
  4. 1onion
  5. 1tomato
  6. 2dry red chilli
  7. 8-9curry leaves
  8. 1tsp chopped coriander leaves
  9. 2 tsp sambhar masala
  10. 1/2 tsp red chilli powder
  11. 1/2 tsp haldi powder
  12. 1 tsp tamrind pulp
  13. 1/2 tsp jaggery
  14. 1/2 tbsprai (mustard seeds)
  15. 1/2 tsphing
  16. 5methi Dana
  17. as neededWater
  18. 4 tsp oil
  19. to tasteSalt
  20. For coconut chutney:-
  21. 1 cupdry coconut
  22. 5green chillies
  23. 15dariya (roasted chana)
  24. 1/2tsp tamarind
  25. 1/2 inchgrated ginger
  26. 1 tsp sugar
  27. 1/2 cupmilk
  28. 1 tbspplain dahi
  29. As required Water
  30. as per tasteSalt

Cooking Instructions

    First for making Idlis
    Take a small portion of prepared mixture in a vessel & add salt to taste & add 1 medium size spoon of ENO in it & add water on Eno so it gets activated

    Now heat steamer in which you will prepare idlis
    Grease the plate with oil & then pour this batter in it & steam for 20 minutes
    After 20 minutes take out the plate & put another plate & in similar way make all idlis

    Now after 15 minutes the plate will be cool then cut idlis in shapes as you wish
    You can cut idlis in square shape, then triangle shape, then rectangular shape or circle shape

    For sambhar heat oil in pan add rai, methi Dana, hing, red chilli, onion& then tomato

    Sauté all this for 2 minutes then add all spices & sauté it then add tamrind pulp & jaggery to it & give it a quick stir

    Now add cook dal in it & add chopped coriander & boil it for 20 minutes

    For coconut chutney :-
    Grind all the things & make a smooth paste & you can eat like this or you add tadka on it

    Now your Idli, Sambhar & Coconut chutney is ready to serve
