Cut and Salted Turnips

Even though this may be an ordinary side dish, it's delicious.

Add a little soy sauce to taste before serving. Sesame seeds are a must.

Ingredients

  1. 2Turnips (small)
  2. 1/2 tspSalt
  3. 1 dashRed chili pepper
  4. 1Ground sesame seeds

Cooking Instructions

    Cut the root of the turnips (the white part) into matchsticks. Slice the leaves into thin strips.

    Put them in a plastic bag, then add the salt and red pepper (powdered or minced is fine).

  3. 3

    Rub the salt into the turnips. Set aside for 30 minutes, then rinse and squeeze out the excess water.

  4. 4

    Transfer to a serving dish, and top with sesame seeds and red pepper (optional) and serve. The version above makes use of turnip greens leftover from another dish. It's delicious.
