I have made the dhokli from the leftover methi thepla dough which made the dish very tasty and easy if you keep some thepla dough aside.

Ingredients

  1. For dhokli:
  2. 1.5 cupMethi thepla dough made of - wheat flour
  3. 1/2 tsphaldi powder
  4. 1/2 tspkashmiri red chill
  5. 1/2 tspdhania jeera powder
  6. 2 tspoil
  7. to tasteSalt
  8. 3 tablespoonvery finely chopped methi leaves
  9. For dal
  10. 1.5 cuptoor dal
  11. 1 tablespoonoil
  12. 1 tablespoonghee
  13. 1/2 teaspooneach of mustard seeds and ajwain seeds
  14. pinchhing
  15. 2cloves
  16. leavesfew curry
  17. 1small peice of dal chini
  18. 2 tablespoonpeanuts
  19. handfulcashews
  20. 1/2 teaspoonhaldi powder
  21. 1.5 teaspoonkashmiri red chill
  22. as per tastesalt
  23. 2 tablespoonsugar (you can also replace it with jaggery)
  24. 1/2lemon juice
  25. As RequiredGarnish with pomegranate, grapes, coriander leaves and grated coconut

Cooking Instructions

    Wash and pressure cook the toor dal and once the pressure releases, blend the dal

    Keep oil for heating and make the tadka by adding mustard, ajwain, cloves, dalchini and hing

  3. 3

    Add haldi and red chili powder to the tadka and pour tadka the dal. Add salt, sugar, peanuts and cashew to the dal. Cook the dal on low flame for 10-15 mins.

    Till the dal is boiling...you can make the thepla dough or use the leftover dough. To make the methi thepla dough...add wheat flour, salt, all the spices, methi and water. Roll thin roti from the dough an cut into any shapes you love

    Add the dhoklis in boiling dal, one by one, keep stirring in between so that dhoklis do not stick. Once the dhokli is cooked it will start floating on the top of the dal.

    Now add the second tadka of ghee...take 1 tablespoon of ghee, mustard seeds, hing, curry leaves, red chilli powder and pour on the dal

    Add lemon juice, serve the dal dhokli hot and garnish it with pomogranate, grapes, coriander leaves and grated coconut
