This is an abbreviated version of Chaliapin steak (a steak marinated in onions, a Japanese western-style dish). The sautéed onions form the base of the sauce, so sauté them slowly and patiently, taking care not to let them burn.As long as the onions are well sautéed, you can make a delicious sauce with just water, without needing any wine or sake. Make this when steaks are on sale.Discard the oil you cooked the steak in before making the sauce at Step 5.When resting the steak, make sure it doesn't cool down. How to check the doneness of the meat: When you press down on it with a finger, if it feels about as soft as your cheek it's rare, if it's like your ear lobe it's medium, and if it's like your nose it's well done. For 1 serving. Recipe by Shizure

Chicken and Cabbage Simmered in Tomato Sauce
I had a lot of cabbage that I'd bought or gotten from people to use up so I came up with this recipe. Since then it's become a family favorite.Because you dust the chicken with flour before browning and then simmering it the umami is held inside and the meat won't fall apart. By sprinkling it with some sake for cooking, the gaminess of the chicken is gone and it becomes very tender. Adjust the amount of salt and water depending on how much cabbage you use. I use about 1/2 a tomato can of water. Recipe by Makichimu

This is another example of Filipino-Chinese cuisine. I have used baking soda to tenderise the meat, which was necessary because of the cheap cut of beef. Feel free to omit the step if you're using tenderloin or other cut that might not need it. I have again omitted all onion and garlic; if you want them, add them when you stir fry the ginger. 🇵🇭🇨🇳

Chicken with Orange Sauce
I made this dish for my boyfriend. It's delicious and goes well with rice. I took the photo quickly as he was about to eat, so it's not very pretty, and the color is unfiltered. For this dish, you can use fresh orange juice, but avoid green oranges as they can turn bitter when cooked. I chose to use pure boxed orange juice for a more consistent flavor.

I made it with the things at home and when I couldn't go shopping. This sauce is like the sauce at Korean barbecue restaurants. It's simple; just mix the ingredients together, but it's delicious.
