A simple and classic Japanese dish made for nice side dish. And this goes well with alcohol. The crispy feeling of burdock root increases its deliciousness.

Ingredients

  1. 1burdock root (about 100g)
  2. *Sauce
  3. 1 1/2-2 tbsp*soy sauce
  4. 2 tbsp*sugar
  5. 2 1/2 tbsp*mirin
  6. 1/2 cupcorn starch
  7. 1 tbspsesame seeds
  8. Vegetable oil for deep frying
  9. Crushed chili pepper (or shichimi spice powder)

Cooking Instructions

    Scrub the burdock root well, leave skins on, cut into 5 cm length pieces and cut in half lengthwise. Soak in water and drain well.

    Heat the *sauce in a pan until sugar melted.

  3. 3

    Dust the burdock root with the cornstarch. Heat the oil in a pot and deep-fry the burdock root until tender.

    Mix ②’s sauce and deep-fried burdock root together. Sprinkle on sesame seed and crushed chili pepper (or shichimi spice powder).
