Ingredients

40 mins
10 servings
  1. 180 gramsbutter
  2. 90 gramsWhite sugar
  3. 1 tspvanilla
  4. 300 gramsflour
  5. 1 tspbaking powder
  6. 100 gramsbutter
  7. 400 mlcan of condensed milk
  8. 2 tbspgolden syrup
  9. 1 cupchocolate chips

Cooking Instructions

40 mins
  1. 1

Cream butter and sugar in bowl until combined. Add vanilla and stir.

  2. 2

Sift flour and baking powder over butter mixture and stir until combined. Should resemble breadcrumbs.

  3. 3

Press 2/3 of the mixture into a square tin that has been lightly greased with butter. You need to press the base down so it sticks to each other firmly. Bake in over for 10 minutes at 350°F.

  4. 4

While the base is in the oven, put second amount of butter into a saucepan over medium/high heat. Add condensed milk and gold syrup and stir until butter has melted and all ingredients have combined.

  5. 5

Take base out of oven, pour caramel mix over base and spread evenly. Sprinkle the remaining 1/3 of the base over the caramel and sprinkle the chocolate chips over this evenly. Place back in oven and cook for another 15 minutes.

  6. 6

Take out of the oven and leave until cook to cut. Otherwise the hot caramel will not keep the shape. I cut into squares and eat with a cup of tea. Yum!

This was so yummy! I had to use corn syrup because we do not have the golden here. My family is already asking for more.
