Ingredients

  1. 1lb. dry Black Beans
  2. 2tbl. Bacon Grease
  3. 1Onion, chopped
  4. 2slices Bacon, minced (optional).
  5. 6cups Water
  6. 4Beef Bullion cubes
  7. 1/2tsp. Garlic powder
  8. 1/2tsp. Black Pepper
  9. 1/4tsp. Cayenne Pepper
  10. 1tbl. Sugar

Cooking Instructions

    Place dry beans in large bowl, add Boiling water to cover. Let stand about 1/2 hr. Drain, rinse, drain again.

    Add bacon grease to large pot on med. heat. Add onion and saute for 2 mins.

  3. 3

    Add drained beans and saute for 5 mins. more.

  4. 4

    Add rest of ingredients, including 6 cups water. Bring to boil on high heat.

  5. 5

    Cover, reduce heat to simmer and cook about 90 mins. until done to taste.

    Serve with white rice and/or sweet onions.
