Turmeric Arroz Caldo - Chicken Congee | Filipino rice porridge Turmeric Arroz Caldo - Chicken Congee | Filipino rice porridge
Turmeric, the miracle spice, is so "in" these days because of its health benefits. Since turmeric is already commonly added to steamed rice, why not add it to a congee (or lugaw in Filipino, or Arroz Caldo, or porridge)! The twist in this Chicken Arroz Caldo or lugaw recipe, aside from the Turmeric addition, is that I've pushed the "healthy" factor by using brown and red rice instead of white or sticky rice. Sounds good, hey? :)This dish is perfect for cold nights and rainy days. 😊 SpottedByD -

Nan's Sizzling Rice Soup Nan's Sizzling Rice Soup
One of my very favorites, this quick soup is impressive and delicious. Prepare all the add-ins ahead of time, even the day before, and put them in a large divided dish, refrigerated until 30 minutes before dinner. Each person puts the ingredients they want into their empty soup bowl, the boiling hot soup is ladled in, then the hot fried rice cakes are added for the sizzle. While you can make your own rice cakes, the process is involved and time-consuming. I find it's MUCH easier to buy them (Asian market or Amazon). You can easily change up the optional ingredients to suit your own taste. Use as few or as many of the ingredients listed here. But don't skip the dried shitake mushrooms! They add a rich umami flavor to the broth that you don't get from fresh shitakes. And make sure when you dish it up you include enough broth in each bowl to accommodate the star, the sizzling rice cakes!#GoldenApron23 Maggie Conlon -

Genuine Chinese Congee (Ready in About 10 Minutes) Genuine Chinese Congee (Ready in About 10 Minutes)
I love the Chinese congee served in Chinatown. It's healthy and warms your body, too. I recommend serving it with walnuts.Chinese congee uses about 4 to 5 times more water than Japanese congee.I used 3 cups of water in this recipe, but you can add more water to adjust it to your desired consistency.Once you make it, you'll be able to memorize the recipe. You just need 1 bowl of rice, 3 cups of water, then 1 teaspoon each of salt, Chinese chicken stock granules, and sesame oil. It's so simple. Recipe by Orihime mama cookpad.japan -
