Ingredients

  1. 3 packagesYeast
  2. 1/2 cupWarm Water
  3. 1/2 cupSugar
  4. 1/4 cupHoney
  5. 1/2 cupButter, melted
  6. 8 eachEgg
  7. 8 cupFlour
  8. 1 eachEgg Yolk
  9. 1Cornmeal
  10. 1Sesame seeds

Cooking Instructions

    Mix yeast, water, and 1 T sugar together. Let sit 10-15 min until bubbly.

    Add sugar, honey, butter, and eggs. Gradually stir in flour. Knead until smooth and elastic.

    Place in a greased bowl, turn once to cover with grease. Let rise 1 1/2 hours until doubled in size.

    Punch down; divide into ninths. Form each piece into a rope 18 inches long. Braid 3 together. Tuck ends and place each in a greased, cornmeal coated bread pan (or on a cookie sheet). Let rise one hour.

    Brush with egg yolk, then sprinkle with sesame or poppy seeds.
    Bake 350°F for 30 minutes.
