Bacon and Tofu stir-fry in Japanese Style gravy Bacon and Tofu stir-fry in Japanese Style gravy
Japanese style stir-fry with gravy (It's called "An-kake, pronounced "kakay"). Made with whatever I found in the fridge. You can use any vegetable or meat for this dish. I used home-made bacon to add flavor, but you can omit it if you are vegetarian. I would have added mushrooms if I had them. The gravy (An) is usually made with potato starch as a thickener, but you can use corn starch (or corn flour) if you don't have it. By the way, "kake" means to "pour over" so an-kake is a dish with gravy on it. Miyuki Suyari -
Hot and Sour Soup Without Thickener Hot and Sour Soup Without Thickener
Hot and sour soup is a staple at Chinese restaurants and takeout spots overseas, but it's often hard to find a really good one. At home, we always pair hot and sour soup with dumplings, and I often make a version that my family loves.I saw a recipe using okra as a natural thickener, and since I had okra and some dried daylily flowers from Taiwan, I tried making a hot and sour soup without any added starch last weekend when we had dumplings. My family liked it, but they still prefer the smooth texture you get from using lotus root starch from Tainan, Taiwan. 北美liuliuTranslated from Cookpad Taiwan -
Minced Meat Curry Minced Meat Curry
Not requiring a long time to simmer is a great help. This time, I used a mixture of ground beef and pork, but you can use whatever minced meat you like. It's nice with mushrooms, too. In Step 2, if you have time, it's best to brown the onion. If you do so, you don't need to use honey. I didn't have much time, so I used it. For 5-6 servings. Recipe by Shampoo hat cookpad.japan -
