Dinner inspiration.... Local recipe taught by my mum, everything goes in at once, except the leaves (to avoid being over cooked). Yum yum yummy!!! 😋💯

Ingredients

  1. Okro (chopped)
  2. Ogbonno (grinded)
  3. Smoked fish (remove bones)
  4. Pepper (pounded roughly)
  5. Palm oil (as required)
  6. Locust bean (iru)
  7. Crayfish (grinned)
  8. Salt and seasoning cubes (as required)
  9. Pumpkin leaves (ugu)

Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

Prepare all ingredients for the soup.

  2. 2

Put a pot of water on fire, add the pepper, little palm oil (because we'd be mixing the Ogbonno with some palm oil to dissolve it) add salt and seasoning cubes to taste, add the okro, iru, smoked fish... Stir together to combine completely.

  3. 3

Mix the Ogbonno with some palm oil and dissolve, add to the mixture in the pot. (I do not cover my pot when cooking any draw soup, I discovered covering it kills that slacky and slimy nature of the okro) stir well and allow to boil for few minutes. Add the crayfish and pumpkin leaves. Stir again. Turn off heat and allow to steam.

  4. 4

Your sumptuous okro soup is ready!!! Serve with any swallow of your choice.... I prefer the cassava swallow. It's so DELISH!!! 😋😋😋
