Cooking Instructions
- 1
First, place the beans in a large bowl and pour enough water to cover the beans.
Leave to soak in the water for only 5 minutes.
Tip: the soaking helps to soften the bean coat, without softening the beans. - 2
After 5 minutes, place some of the beans into the blender, pour enough water to make the beans move freely in the blender.
- 3
If your blender has a ‘pulse’ button, pulse the beans intermittently for 5 minutes(pressing down on the button for like 10 seconds each time).
- 4
But if there’s no pulse button, use the normal blender button. Blend for 10 seconds, stop and repeat at intervals to avoid blending the beans. Do this for 5 minutes.
- 5
Tip: you’ll see through the blender jar as the coat peels off the beans.
- 6
Pour the content into a bowl and repeat the process for the remaining soaked beans.
- 7
Pour some water into the bowl with the peeled beans; As the bean coat floats to the surface, strain the coat through the sieve and leave the white(peeled beans) in the bowl.
Repeat this process with fresh water until you have all the coat in the sieve. - 8
If you see an unpeeled beans in the bowl, don’t worry, simply pick them out and peel with your fingers.
And now you have peeled beans, for Moi-moi, Akara and any other recipe that calls for peeled beans.

How to Boil Fava Beans or Broad Beans How to Boil Fava Beans or Broad Beans
I had a large amount of fava beans. I was searching for a good way to cook them, and came across a recipe from a TV cooking show called Hanamaru Market.I added the sake to take away the green-raw flavor. It's possible that cooking the beans for two minutes might just be a little too much. They'll still continue to cook because of the residual heat, so you might not even need to boil them for the full two minutes. Recipe by Kyouchan cookpad.japan -
Low Sodium Pickled Plums- How to Dry Kanto pickled Plums (White Pickled Plums) Low Sodium Pickled Plums- How to Dry Kanto pickled Plums (White Pickled Plums)
I learned this from my mother. If using red shiso: add it to dry in Step 2.Drying the plums overnight will allow the skins to become even softer, and you will be able to preserve them for years, so you really should dry them out. However, I think they still make rather tasty pickled plums even without drying them out overnight. Zenzai Basic Sweet Red Bean Soup (How to Cook Adzuki Beans) Zenzai Basic Sweet Red Bean Soup (How to Cook Adzuki Beans)
This is a really basic recipe for cooking adzuki beans. It's easy and tasty, so it's how I usually do it. I like to serve it as-is as sweet red bean soup, so I don't add any salt, but feel free to do so.While cooking the beans, ensure that they are always covered in water. Add water as necessary (check every 30 minutes). If you want to make it less sweet, reduce the amount of sugar to 150 g.Mashing some of the adzuki beans while cooking them will make a countryside-style adzuki soup.
