Ingredients

  1. 250 gmHilsa fish (Ilish mach):
  2. Pumpkin: 100 gm (cut into square pieces)
  3. 2 piecesGreen chili:
  4. 1/2 tea spoonTurmeric powder:
  5. 1/2 tea spoonChili powder:
  6. 1/2 tea spoonBlack cumin:
  7. 2 table spoonMustard oil:
  8. 1 table spoonVegetable oil:
  9. to tasteSalt

Cooking Instructions

    At first marinate the hilsa fish (ilish mach) with turmeric and salt for 10-15 minutes.Now make paste of turmeric powder and chili powder in 1 table spoon water.

    Then, in a pan heat the vegetable oil, fry the pumpkin pieces for 5 minutes until it turns to brown color. Remove from heat and keep it aside.

    Now in another pan heat mustard oil, add black cumin (kalo jira), 1 green chili and sauté it until crackles. Now add the fish and fry it lightly for 3 minutes.

    Then add the turmeric powder and chili powder paste and fry for another one minute.Now add 1 cup of water. Then add pumpkin, green chilies, salt and bring to boil.

    Simmer for 12 minutes until pumpkins are cooked.Now your hilsa pumpkin dish is ready to serve. Serve this dish with steamed rice.
