Wash and soak dal overnight. In the morning, strain the water from dal and blend it into a smooth paste-like consistency. Whisk it for at least10 minutes. Add salt and pepper and keep it aside for 15 minutes. After 15 minutes whisk it again till you feel the mix turn light and fluffy.

In a pan add oil enough for frying. Add the dal mix in small quantities to make bhallas. Fry till golden brown. Get them out and dip in cold water to help soften up. Bhalla is ready.

To make dahi bhalla chat,in a plate put some dal bhalla, strain water from it. Add potato, imli ki chutney, salt, chilli powder according to your taste. Top it with whisked curd and sprinkle some salt, chilli powder, chat masala and chutney on it. Lastly add roasted cumin powder, which adds to the flavor. Street style dahi bhalla are ready.
