Soak rice for 8 hours, urad dal for 2 hours and parmal for 5-10 min.

Rinse rice and dal twice then grind everything to a fine paste. Remove in a vessel and mix well. Leave it for fermentation for around 8 hours.

After the batter turns fluffy, add chopped onion, baking soda and salt just before starting to cook.

Grease appe patra with some oil, pour the batter to fill it 3/4th. Pour a little oil on the top of it, close the lid and let it cook on low flame.

After they turn golden brown from bottom, flip them and cook from other side as well.

Place them on a plate and serve hot with coconut chutney!
