Donuts
Steps
- 1
In a large bowl, combine All-purpose flour, sugar, Instant yeast, salt, milk powder, custard powder and oil.
- 2
Gradually add water and start kneading. Dough will be sticky at this point.
- 3
Once all the water has been added, transfer the dough onto a work surface/platform and knead until it doesn’t stick to your hands anymore.
Note- If you can stretch the dough without it breaking, that means the gluten is well-developed and your dough is ready to rise. This is called windowpane test. - 4
Roll it into a 12-16 mm rectangle, cut with a floured donut cutter.
OR
Cut the dough into 45 gm pieces and roll each one into a ball. Press it gently to 12-16 mm thickness and cut center using a nozzle. - 5
Place all of these at 2”-3” distance on a baking tray that has been lined with parchment paper and dusted with All-purpose flour.
- 6
Cover the tray with cling wrap and set aside in a warm place to proof for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- 7
Once that is done, heat oil and deep-fry each donut until it turns golden brown on both sides.
- 8
Let the donuts cool, and coat with toppings of your choice.
- 9
Serve warm.
