Steps

Cut the 200gm paneer horizontally into two cubes.

Marinate the paneer cubes with chilli powder, salt, turmeric powder, coriander powder and lime juice, rest the marinated paneer for 30 minutes

After 30 minutes shallow fry the paneer cubes in a pan for 10 minutes and keep the fried cubes aside. Do not fry the paneer for long period, as it may get hardened

In a tawa add chopped onions, curry leaves and sauté well, once become transparent add the grinder tomato paste and cook well

Add the spice powders chilli powder and coriander powder and salt, cook the paste well by adding necessary water

Meanwhile you can heat the banana leaf in the stove in medium flame, you could see the banana leaf turning to black, at that stage you can stop it heating

Now place the paneer cube in the banana leaf, followed by cooked tomato paste and cover it in the form of packets using threads

Place the packets in a tawa and cook in medium flame for 10 - 15 minutes

After 15 minutes, open the packets, you could see the fried paneer cubes getting cooked well with the onion tomato paste and banana leaf flavour.

Serve paneer polichathu hot with rice or roti.
